The Japanese Ministry of Defense has an anti-paranormal special forces group called the Supernatural Disaster Prevention Agency. They’re the ones responsible to protect Japanese soil and its people from supernatural and paranormal events. However, things didn’t go so well in one of their missions, which leads to intervention by the Ministry of Enviroment’s Supernatural Disaster Countermeasures Division after the SDPO has sustained large numbers of casualties battling demons.

This series is a prequel to the manga series, Ga-Rei.

Epic animu for this season. Fabulous quality, Fabulous shocking story, Fabulous characters.
Ghostbuster type but the ghost here is moar stronger. There are 4 categories for the Evil Spirits, Category A, B, C, and D. With different killing and eradicating method. The battle scene is just awwsome. Thrilling with unexpected events and plot twist. Surprising story is surprising.

Plot:
The series features the 25th New Macross-class Colonial Fleet, dubbed the Macross Frontier, en route to the galactic center. This heavily-populated interstellar fleet (consisting of numerous civilan vessels and their military escorts) contains a makeup of both human occupants and their Zentradi allies. As such, many of the Macross Frontier’s companion vessels appear to merge more metallic Human designs with organic Zentradi aesthetics. On the Macross timeline, the story is set on the year 2059, 47 years after the original Super Dimension Fortress Macross and 19 years after Macross Plus.

During a mission to an unexplored asteroid belt, a reconnaissance New U.N. Spacy (N.U.N.S.) VF-171 is destroyed by extremely powerful and fast insectoid biomechanical alien mecha known as the “Vajra”, (バジュラ)[2], which immediately begin their attack on the rest of the fleet. Not being able to stop the new enemy threat, the N.U.N.S. Colonial Defense Forces authorize the deployment of a Civilian Military Provider organization called S.M.S. which utilizes the new VF-25 Messiah variable fighter to destroy the alien menace.

Characters:
Alto Saotome (早乙女アルト, Saotome Aruto)
A high school student in the Mihoshi Academy Pilot Training course. As a result of his fine features and long hair he is often mistaken for a girl at first glance, even receiving the nickname ‘Hime’ (Princess). Despite his appearance, he is otherwise a rather normal boy, though somewhat aloof and standoffish. Born into a well-known Kabuki family, his persistent yearning for the skies has made for a thorny relationship with his father. Alto is now undertaking pilot courses at Mihoshi Academy. He is constantly fretting about living aboard Macross Frontier. After getting the chance to pilot the VF-25 Messiah variable fighter (due to its original pilot Henry Gilliam being killed by a large type Vajra) his flying skills bring the attention of Ozma Lee, who accepts him as a candidate for the S.M.S. Skull Squadron.

Ranka Lee (ランカ・リー, Ranka Rī)
A short, lively and cheerful, although naive, green-haired girl. The adopted younger sister of SMS ace Ozma Lee, she attends a girl’s high school at the urging of her brother while working part-time in the Chinese restaurant “Nyan-Nyan”. Ranka is a huge fan of Sheryl Nome. She loves singing since her childhood and dreams to become a singer. She is one-quarter Zentradi, which gives her the ability to have her hair move on its own according to her feelings, as well as having an above-average resistance to space vacuum.

Sheryl Nome (シェリル・ノーム, Sheriru Nōmu)
Known as the “Galactic Fairy”, she is a pop idol from Macross Galaxy fleet. She constantly tops music charts, and it is said that it is impossible not to hear her songs if you live in this galaxy. Naturally, her popularity is soaring high in Galaxy’s sister fleet, Frontier. Due to her beauty and singing talent, she is a very proud and self-assured person. Sheryl has recognized the singing talent of Ranka Lee and often offers to help her ‘behind the scenes’ to realize her dream of singing. Sheryl’s first encounter with Alto Saotome was when he served as a backup ‘performer’ at her first fleet concert. She later develops an interest in him after he saved her life from a Vajra attack and often sneaks away from her handlers to meet up with him. She may also be the decedent of Sara Nome a high priestess with magical abilities brought fourth from singing. Sheryl also has a crush on Alto Saotome.

Review:
Just liek other Macross series, this animu has also the 3 main formulas, Valkyrie, Romance, and Music. The animation and effects in every battle against the Vajra are great. Nice design of Mecha, and the music is a-must-hear-ost (lolwut). Recommended for those who loevs Mecha animu.
